A Kenyan woman has died in Austin, Texas after undergoing surgery.
29 year old Lucyann Mwikali Nyamai passed away at an St David’s Austin Medical Center on Tuesday July 8th, 2014. Mwikali had been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis and had developed some complications.
According to committee members, she came to the Austin area in 2007. She leaves behind a two year old son.
Mwikali had no close relatives in the US. Her parents, Joseph Nyamai Kivivu and Catherine Muthoni have been notified and are hoping the community will rally around to enable them receive their daughter’s body home.
She hails from Kasinga sub-location of Machakos county. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters.
The Kenyan community in Austin is inviting friends and well wishers to a funds drive on Friday. July 18th, 2014 at the Falcon Pointe Resident’s Club House, 19015 Falcon Pointe Blvd, Pflugerville, TX 78660 from 6-9 P.M. to help take her body to Kenya.
