0

Andrew Mwangale went home to be with the Lord on October 4th 2015, succumbing to end-stage Colon Cancer.

The family appreciates all friends for the outpouring love , support, and prayers that they have received. For the Mwangale family, it’s been a long and difficult 3 years as Andrew battled the cancer.

Even though the hearts of all the people who knew Andrew are broken, we are grateful that God allowed us to be a part of Andrew’s journey in this life. Andrew was a person whose love knew no boundaries . He had a good spirit and a huge heart. He was always willing to help anyone in need.

For Andrew, family was very important and this is demonstrated by his willingness to host family gatherings and parties. In fact, he was the life of the party especially with his great sense of humor.

Andrew possessed a unique and impressive vast knowledge on a diverse number of topics. He was instrumental in fostering alliances between Diaspora Kenya (America) and the motherland, especially the “Sister City” initiative which includes Mombasa City and Long Beach city network.

As community of Kenyans in Diaspora, let us support Andrew’s family. Let us show the family that all that Andrew did was never in vain. Let us help the family send Andrew’s remain back to Kitale for burial. We have set up a GoFundMe account to raise funds for this purpose, and help the family meet the burial expenses.

Former Minister for Economic Planning and Development in Jomo Kenyatta’s Government, Dr Gordon Odero Jowi is dead.

Jowi, who was also Member of Parliament for Ndhiwa between 1969 and 1974, died on Saturday morning at Nairobi hospital after a short illness.

Also Read: Kwale residents recall last moments with Mzee Jomo Kenyatta

Dr Odero Jowi is credited with fighting for establishment of UNEP headquarters in Kenya, during Jomo Kenyatta’s tenure.

Jowi also served as an Assistant Minister, East African Community Pioneer Finance Minister, Planning Minister and Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Jowi leaves behind his widow Salome Odero Jowi and five children.

Immediate family member Edward Rege said plans for his funeral are underway.

Kenyatta appointed Jowi as Kenya’s permanent representative to the United Nations, where he served between 1972 and 1974 and was instrumental in bringing the UNEP headquarters to Nairobi.

He returned to Kenya before the 1974 General Election and recaptured the seat, beating Matthews Otieno Ogingo, a former vice-chairman of the Nyanza Regional Assembly and seven other candidates hands down on a Kanu ticket.

However, Jowi did not complete his tenure. Jowi made history as Kenya’s first politician to win a closely fought election and then abandon his electorate for greener pastures abroad.

He left to join a UN agency in Canada in 1977.

Am George Mugane and helping in  raising money for my friend Maryam masanetz. She is a single mum of 4 kids and  stays in Oldenburg Germany. Her mum Elizabeth Waweru passed away while undergoing heart surgery in Germany.

The family used all the money that they had,to pay her medical bills and buy medicine for her sick mum. With 3 kids and part time job it is really difficult for her and the family. She needs over 20,000 dollars to pay the outstanding hospital bills and pay for  the flight to take her back to kenya in Malindi for her burial where the rest of her family is staying.
They will need  the money within 2 weeks.
Will be so thankful to help a friend when she needs me most.Thank you.

Pleas to meet funeral expenses for the late Peter Wambua of Austin, TX

We are saddened to announce the death of Peter Wambua, who passed away on December 29th, 2015 in Austin, Texas.

The late Wambua was on life support for over a year, after suffering 5 massive heart attacks. The deceased didn’t have any relatives in US and the least we can do for his aged mother is to give her an opportunity to bury her son and have closure.

Well wishers in Austin have raised about half of the cost of transporting the body to Kenya and with a little support from others, we can grant the old mama her dying wish: to bury her son next to his deceased dad and brother.

A funeral home in Dallas has agreed to ship the body home for a cost of only $5,500.
