A Kenyan woman has passed away in Dallas while she was visiting from the UK.

Eva Monyenche Atika passed away on Thursday January 2nd, 2014 due to heart complications while she was on Christmas vacation where she was spending time her nephew George and Sister Joan Atika. She passed way just a day before she was scheduled to travel back to London.

Eva was the first born of the late George Atika and Anne Atika. She is survived by three siblings: Albert, Joan and Ben Atika.

Eva moved to London in 2000 where she attained her Bachelors and Masters degrees. Until her untimely death, she worked at Brent County City Council in London. Eva had travelled to Dallas, Texas-USA to spend Christmas vacation with her nephew George and Sister Joan Atika. She was scheduled to travel back to London on the 3rd of January 2014. Unfortunately she developed heart complications and suddenly passed away on 2nd of January 2014.

She was promoted to glory on Tuesday January 14th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was fifty two years old.

Nyanyelo, as she was fondly known, was an inspiration and a shining gem to many who knew and got to interact with her. Her tenderness, kindness and motherly love touched and inspired us all. She will be laid to rest at her native home in Usenge, Bondo. Kenya.

Kenya-based BBC broadcast journalist Anne Waithera has died, aged 39, in a Nairobi hospital.

She had been battling cancer for the past two years.

Described as among the most talented Kenyan journalists of her time, she joined the BBC in 2009 after many years with local TV and radio stations.

She was the first BBC bilingual – English and Swahili – reporter to be appointed to the Ethiopia capital, Addis Ababa.

Her death comes less than a fortnight after that of another celebrated BBC journalist, Komla Dumor from Ghana, in London.

A minute’s silence was observed by BBC Africa staff in Nairobi, London, Dakar and Abuja.

BBC Africa editor Solomon Mugera described her as “a brave, well-organised and talented journalist”.

BBC international bureaux manager Razvan Scortea added: “I am very saddened by this. Anne was a lovely person, bright, gentle and positive, and she fought so hard. God bless her.”

A Kenyan lady passed away on Monday after colliding with a bus along the highway (bundesstraße) 109 between Falkenthal and Zehdenick (Oberhavel).

According to the police report, the 28 year old Kenyan lady was driving her Jeep which had a head on collision with an oncoming bus. It is believed that the black ice on the road caused the lady to lose control of her car and it veered of the track, leading to the crash.

The lady died on the spot while the bus driver was slightly injured and taken to the hospital in Oranienburg. The cause of the accident is still unclear. The two cars were seized by the police and two valuers were contracted to investigate what caused the accident.

The B109 was blocked until late evening after the incident. That same day there were a total of 319 accidents in Brandenburg with 37 injured. 94 accidents were due to black ice, with 23 people.

The 28 year old Kenyan has been identified as Lucy Dashian by close sources.

Friends have been flooding her Facebook page with heartfelt messages since they found out her passing. She leaves behind a husband and two children.

Pictures of the Kenyan lady that was found dead in her house in Henningsdorf have been released by the Police in Henningsdorf.

The police have identified the lady as Munira Hussein, which is the name on all her documents in her home. Due to the state in which the body was found in, it had to take a few days before an autopsy could be done. The police confirmed that the autopsy was to be done on the body today.

From the police investigations, it was clear that there was no violence involved and no third party was involved. There are no signs of faul play or murder. This is in reply to the rumours that have been circulating that Munira had been hacked to death, fortunately, that is not the case.

It is believed that the body must have lay in the house for a couple of weeks before the neighbours called for the police to break into the house.

Rumours have it that, she:

•  originally hails from Kikuyu
• came to Germany from Mtwapa
• is half Kenyan and half Somali
• at one time lived in Munich
• was an asylum seeker

The rumours may be unfounded and may even be  false, but then again they might be true and might help in finding her relatives.

A Kenyan lady was yesterday found dead in her house. The lady who is believed to be of Kenyan and Somalian origin, had been reported missing for the last couple of days before she was found lifeless in her home.

According to a source close to the lady shared that the lady had recently moved out from her Syrian ex-boyfriend’s house to her new German boyfriend’s home. She went missing after her move. She had left her passport at her ex’s home, which he returned to the Migration Office when he couldn’t find her or get in touch with her on her phone.

The lady known to most as Munira, has been living in Germany for several years as an asylum seeker. It is believed that her father was Kenyan and her mother Somali.

The German officials are investigating and trying to find the details on what might have happened to the lady.

We regret to announce the death of Baby Gabriella Kerubo Obaga on January 31, 2014.

Gabriella who was born on December 19^th 2011 was daughter to Phanice Nyatichi Obaga of Arlington, Texas. At birth the doctors discovered that Gabby had sickle cell trait. Baby Gabriella was healthy for about two months when her mom realized she could not stand on her feet and could not hold her head up.

It is then that she took her to a primary care doctor for a check up. When she was 4 months old, the primary doctor recommended therapy at Early Childhood Intervention ( E C I ) who attended to her at home.

Gabriella continued with therapy with other companies like children house of Baylor, Therapy 2000, among others. At the age of 10 months, she was able to sit on her own.

She was getting healthy and she celebrated her 1st birthday. However, Phanice realized that Gabby had started having shortness of breath coupled with a loss of appetite and reduced interest in playing. That’s when she rushed her to Cooks Children Fort worth Hospital emergency.

After some tests and a chest x-ray, she was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy a condition where the heart is enlarged.  She was admitted in intensive care unit ( I .C. U ) on June 1st 2013 and since then she’s been in and out of hospital making it hard for mom to work.

During the hospitalization, Gabriella could not eat and the doctors hooked her to a feeding tube. She had surgery on July 27, 2013 and the doctors at Childrens Medical Center considered a heart transplant.  However she did not qualify because she had chromosomes abnormality and a diagnosis of delayed developments.

All through she was on a number of medications to help her heart. Gabby was given home-health nurse that taking care of her in the house. Celebrated her 2nd Birthday and new year.

On January 3rd 2014 her condition worsened and she was taken to Children Medical Center Dallas and admitted in I.C.U where she passed on January 31st 2014.

A Chiropractor who used to live in metro Atlanta area before he relocated to Kenya has passed away. Dr Chimareni Mukasa Mango (popularly known as Chima passed away in Nairobi over the weekend. Dr. Mango was a son to former Kenyan cabinet minister Dr. Mukasa Mango and graduated from Life University in Smyrna, GA. He worked as a Chiropractor in Atlanta before moving back to Kenya.

According to family sources, Chima was rushed to the Emergency Department of Mater Hospital on Sunday the 9th of February 2014 at about 11.00 am,unconscious, where he was stabilized. Tests done later revealed that he had suffered a severe right -sided stroke.

The Neurosurgical team reviewed him and reported that he had suffered very severe brain damage which had compromised the life-sustaining portion of his brain. They concluded that any surgical measures in his state would be ill-advised. Several other Neurosurgical reviews were sought and doctors arrived at a similar conclusion.

He was later p on Life Support in ICU until his untimely demise on Wednesday the 12th of February 2014 at 10.20 am. May the Almighty God rest his Soul in eternal peace.

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Assumpta Wangui Macharia-Dünnhaupt, who took her last breath on Wednesday this week (26.03.2014). She leaves behind her mother and a 20 year old daughter, Florence.

On Wednesday evening,  Florence left her mother watching tv and went to her room.  When she returned a few minutes later,  Assumpta lay on the sofa unconscious.  Florence called the ambulance which arrived in a couple of minutes. After efforts to rescucitate her failed, she was declared dead.  Assumpta died of a heart attack.

The body was removed from the home on THURSDAY because there was no funeral home open at that hour to pick it.

That Thursday,  the Kenyan community in Saarbrücken was informed of Assumpta’s passing;  they  came together and are currently organising how to help the young lady.

Assumpta was married to a German,  Mr. Dünnhaupt, who passed away in 2000, thus leaving their daughter Florence as an orphan.  Assumpta’s mother who lives in Laikipia in Kenya, is the closest relative left to the young girl.

The Kenyan Embassy in Berlin was informed of the incident and were able to inform Assumpta’s mother in Laikipia yesterday (Friday, 28.03.2014).  Assumpta’s mother is currently consulting with family members in Kenya to decide on the way forward.

RALEIGH, N.C. :Raleigh Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian at Capital Boulevard and Trawick Road.

Police identified the woman Thursday afternoon as 64-year-old Cornelia Olero Amissah.

Police said the incident happened just before 7 a.m. Officers believe she was struck by multiple vehicles, and only one of those remained on the scene. Police urged anyone with any information to call (919) 834-HELP.

All lanes northbound on Capital Boulevard near Trawick Road were blocked as officers investigated the accident but it was reopened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden demise of Cornelia Olero Ogogo which occurred after being struck and killed by a vehicle on Capital Blvd in Raleigh NC on 03/20/2014.
