It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Paul P. Ochieng formally of Kenya Ports Authority, Mombasa who passed on  Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Kisumu Hospital in Kenya.

He leaves behind his wife Doreen Ochieng, his children David Ochieng and George Ochieng ( Arlington, Texas) , Christine Ochieng (Nairobi, Kenya), Tom Mboya Ochieng (Nairobi,  Kenya),  Steven Gombe (Omaha, Nebraska), and Janet Akinyi Ochieng(Nairobi, Kenya).

He was the Father in-law to Sarah Ochieng and Alex Van-Willegen. Grandchildren  Ashley, Baracca, Tamasha, Noah, Rashad, Mallia, Nia, and Leroy.

A Kenyan man with the US Marines has died in Nairobi.

Kennedy Otieno Okumu died at the Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi succumbing to gunshot wounds. He was shot as he tried to fend of muggers in Nairobi while he was on holiday. He had traveled home from the US to visit family. His body was transferred back to Dallas, TX where he will be laid to rest as per his wishes.

Kennedy was a beloved dad, family and friend to many. He was a son Grace A. Ojwang and Joel N. Okumu. He was a beloved father to Paxton and Shamandra.

Kennedy was born August 5, 1986 and passed away on November 21, 2014. He graduated high school from Usenge High School and then enrolled into Kenya Polytechnic where he studied IT before immigrating to the Dallas, Texas area. He worked at Sunrise Senior Living before joining the United States Marine Corp. He went to San Diego, California where he successfully completed Basic Combat Training before transferring to Florida where he again successfully completed his Advanced Initial Training as an Aviation Mechanic.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday evening, December 12, 2014 at ARIA Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75252. A Kenyan teen was killed on Sunday morning after he crashed into a traffic signal pole in Irvine California.

Michael Kwabi, 19, of Irvine, was killed when his Infinity Q45 struck a signal pole just before 7am at the intersection of Orchard Hills and Wolf Trail. Detectives are still investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.

Once on scene, officers pronounced the him dead on arrival.

The Orange County Coroner’s Office will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the man’s death.

Kwabi was the vehicle’s lone occupant.

Just before the accident, Kwabi had told his mum tat he was heading out to get breakfast. It was the last time they spoke.

Kwabi is a relative to former assistant minister and former MP for Kajiado North John Keen who is a veteran Kenyan politician.

He was a student at Woodbridge High School in Irvine.

A US based Kenyan, Mr Jesse Kahora, passed away Wednesday at Northside Hospital in the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia,  where he had been admitted for close to three months.

A source at the hospital told ksnmedia.com that Mr Kahora’s condition  deteriorated shortly  after he underwent surgery. “His condition fluctuated at different times during the period of admission at the facility. Sometimes he showed signs of recovery but at other times he was very ill,” said a close friend who didn’t wish to be identified.

“We were hopeful that he would be discharged in early November but obviously, that was not to be. We are very saddened by Jesse’s passing,” he added.

Others who paid tribute said he was a bright, engaging person who had very strong opinions over what he believed in.

“R.I.P Jesse Kahora. We loved you but God loved you more.
We shall miss you on this wall. Your praise and worship leadership shall be missed by all. No more pain son. Death oh death. where is your sting?,” Wrote Christine Muchene on Kahora’s Facebook wall, adding;
“May God give peace to the family during this time of great sorrow,”

Another mourner who said she hadn’t  met the deceased personally wrote;

I will sing, I will praise, lift my hands to honor You
Because Your word is true, I will sing.”

On November 7th, he wrote on his wall:

“When my life was ebbing away,
I remembered you, Lord,
and my prayer rose to you,
to your holy temple.
“Those who cling to worthless idols
turn away from God’s love for them.
But I, with shouts of grateful praise,
will sacrifice to you.
What I have vowed I will make good.
I will say, “Salvation comes from the Lord.”

Kahora’s lengthy hospitalization not withstanding, his death caught many in the Kenyan community in and around Atlanta by surprise. “My family and I are deeply saddened by the news of Jesse Kahora’s passing, he was such a great person and will live on in our memories forever, a great worship leader. My heart felt condolences to the family at this difficult time,” said Geoffrey Chege, a close friend.

Mr Kahora lived in Sandy Springs, Georgia and is survived by his wife, Faith Kahora.

Flamboyant businessman Mike Gathecha who died in a car accident last week was laid to rest yesterday in Juja.

Easily identifiable by his flashy cars with customized number plates, Gathecha died after hitting a stationary lorry at Roysambu. He was driving a Toyota Crown at the time.

Apart from being the President’s relative, Gathecha was the MD of Juja Capital Centre. He also reportedly had interests in several other clubs and businesses.

He died at the age of 29.

It is with deep sorrow and the humble acceptance of God’s will that we inform you of the promotion to glory of our beloved mother Teresa Wanjiku Gitau on December 29^th2014, wife of Emmauel Kimani Gitau,  mother to Mary Ndgewa (KS), Anne Kimani (PA), Christine Kimani (PA), Joan Kimani (Kenya), and Fidelis Kimani(Kenya).

Teresa traveled from Kenya to the US on 12/16/14 for further medical treatment due to an aneurysm that developed as a result of undergoing brain surgery on 11/5/14 at the Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi, Kenya. Teresa underwent surgery to correct the aneurysm on 12/19/14 at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania and was discharged on 12/24/14. She was recovering well at her daughter’s home, unfortunately on 12/28/14 Teresa developed complications and was rushed to Crozer hospital and then airlifted to the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. She underwent brain surgery once again in an attempt to correct a brain hemorrhage.  Following the surgery her daughters were informed that she had experienced a brain shift and there was no way to reverse it.

Through the various surgeries Teresa underwent the family has depleted all available funds both in Kenya and the US in an effort to cover the medical expenses. Teresa’s daughters are now reaching out to the community seeking financial support to enable them to take their mom back home to her final resting place.

The funeral planning committee has a projected budget of $40,000 to help offset medical bills at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania and to cover travel expenses to Kenya.

Prayers are being held at 6 pm daily at Anne Kimani’s home, 300 Meghan Place Norwood, PA 19074.

There will be a memorial mass at 11am on Saturday, January 3^rd 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic church located on 1 Fatima Drive, Secane PA 19018.

Police in Baltimore, Maryland, are investigating a case in which a Kenyan man was shot to dead in his house over the weekend.
The Kenyan, Josephat Kobia popularly known as Joe or Vaity by his friends, was fatally shot on the head on Sataurday 3rd 2015.
According to Baltimore police, officers were called at 6:14 a.m. to the 500 block of Queensgate Road for the report of a shooting. At the location they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene (Police have not released anymore info at this time)
Baltimore Police have not released any information into this investigation.

A Kenyan man who authorities described as homeless has died following an explosion that razed down the building he was in in Forest Park, about twenty miles South of  the city of Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

The man has been identified as Daniel Kariuki Chege akaKandithi.

Clayton County authorities said the man “may have been asleep when several  explosions rocked the building.”

“Daniel was well known around here. He usually spent the night inside the building to keep the wintery weather at bay,” said Moses Freeman, a friend to the deceased. “He was a good man,” he added.

According to witnesses, firefighters responding to a 911 call around 9 p.m. on Friday January 9th found a building burning with a man inside.

Atlanta’s WSB-TV  reported that 50 firefighters worked for five hours to control the blaze. Officials said the building may have been a mechanic shop. Several acetylene tanks had exploded inside the business.

Crews spent hours looking through the debris overnight for any additional victims.

A friend to the deceased and who spoke to ksnmedia on condition of anonymity said it took several days before the family knew that it was Daniel who had died in the fire tragedy.

“Initially, the local TV stations did not have the name of the victim. When authorities contacted the family, obviously the news was devastating” he said.

Daniel’s sister, Grace Nyambura Wandu, on Wednesday appealed to the Kenyan community and other well wishers to turn up for a memorial service-cum-fundraiser on Saturday January 24th at BHU Student Center in Atlanta to “help us bury our brother.”

The burial will be on Saturday January 31st at Mt Harmony Memorial Gardens, 581 Veterans Memorial Hwy, SE, Mableton, GA 30126.

By the time of going to press, authorities were still investigating the actual cause of the tragic blaze.

Maina Nderitu (formerly of KCB) and Jane Nderitu (MA). He was brother to Anthony Nderitu (VA), Anne Nderitu and Eva Nderitu (based in Houston, and Huntsville, Texas respectively).   Patrick was uncle to Siddiq Maina and a brother in law to Jane Ngatia.  He has several uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Prior to his demise, Patrick was working at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Wynne Unit. He attended Nyeri Primary School, Moi Forces Academy, and Lucknow University in India for a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.
